Come get away with Professionals in the City as we embark on an adventure in Costa Rica! Situated between Nicaragua and Panama, this tropical paradise is close enough to the equator to keep the weather warm and inviting all year round. With an average temperature of between 70 and 80 degrees, Costa Rica boasts beautiful soft sand beaches, active and diverse jungles, and beautiful rocky mountains. This Central American country is home to the active Arenal Volcano, which supports rich soil for growing delicious exports, a beautiful view from the surrounding areas and even natural hot springs barely cool enough to take the summer sweat away.

On this trip, we will see the capital of San Jose, the beautiful area surrounding the Arenal Volcano, some of the most beautiful beaches of the Pacific Ocean and the famous Cloud Forest of Monteverde. On top of all the natural wonders Costa Rica has to offer, we will also get the chance to integrate with the locals while trying our hands at surfing, canyoneering down the face of a waterfall, kayaking through the Pacific and Damas Island Estuaries, fishing some of the best areas for tuna and sport fish and ziplining through the cloud covered tops of the rainforest. This trip is an adventurers dream. The bug may hit you and you may never want to go home.

The night will be yours to divulge in the San Jose nightlife.

May 26th, Day 2: Today we head out to the Mi Cafecito Community Coffee Plantation to take a tour, sample some of their amazing product and learn what kind of impact this project has made on the community. After we get all hopped up on genuine Costa Rican coffee, we set off for the Arenal region to explore this spectacular country further. The afternoon and early evening is yours to enjoy and explore. At the base of this spectacular volcano, take a soak in the hot springs and let the soreness and stiffness of your muscles melt away in these lava-heated natural pools.

Sign up for one of our optional excursions while in the area. Paddleboard through Lake Arenal with the volcano looming in the background. Grab a paddle and helmet and work up a sweat paddling through class 2 – 4 rapids and stunning scenery. Or strap in to some safety gear and get up close and personal with a breathtaking waterfall as you repel down the face and fighting the impressive display of the waterfalls natural power.

After an afternoon filling up your soul, we head back to the hotel for some r and r and the evening is yours to explore La Fortuna on your own. Relax in the hotel pool and grab some dinner at one of the locally owned restaurants or, set out for a couple cocktails with the rest of the group.

May 27th, Day 3: Today is a free day to explore the variety of wildlife and gorgeous landscapes at the base of the Arenal Volcano. Meander through town and visit with the friendly locals while absorbing as much as the culture as possible. Try some local delicacies, shop for souvenirs or post up at one of the local watering holes to see what the residents of La Fortuna do in their free time.

Take today to sign up for any activities you missed yesterday. Paddle boarding on the lake, canyoneering down the face of a beautiful waterfall and white water rafting through the beautiful flowing river are options once again to fill your adventurous side while venturing into the outskirts of this quaint town.

May 28th, Day 4: Today we pack up and say goodbye to La Fortuna. We are off to Monteverde. Made famous by the Santa Elena Cloud Forest, Monteverde hosts people from all over the world who flock to see the stunning array of wildlife visible from the canopy walkways. After we check into our hotel the day is yours to venture through town or take a night hike with a local guide. You may see toucans, jaguars, vipers, frogs the size of ladybugs, bioluminescent moss, oversized ferns, motmots, sloths and even giant tarantulas. Keep your eyes open for the many species that call this forest home.

May 29th, Day 5: Today we venture deep into the Cloud Forest. Your guide will take you through the thick forest and up to the observation tower for one of the most spectacular views Costa Rica has to offer. Bring your camera and snap away at the many different animals you will see on this trek. May 30th, Day 6: Today we depart on our longest journey of the trip. Hop in our air-conditioned coach, sit back and enjoy the scenery. Even though this is the longest transfer of the trip, it will be well worth it when we arrive in Quepos, right near the beach. Upon checking into the hotel and getting situated into our rooms, the day is yours to venture off and enjoy this beautiful beach town.

Optional excursions today include the chance for some fishing off what is said to be Costa Rica’s best fishing port. Cast your line in hopes of catching marlin, sailfish, dorado (mahi mahi) or one of the many types of tuna. Take a sailing trip to bask in the Costa Rican sun, dip in the warm water and check out almost 50 species of tropical fish that live in this Pacific Ocean paradise. Keep a lookout for dolphin, whales, rays and the occasional leap of the beautiful sailfish.

You will also have the opportunity to slather on the sunscreen and relax on the pillow-soft white sand beaches nearby, or get with the locals for an expert surfing lesson. Sign up for a kayaking tour in the Damas Islands Estuaries to catch a glimpse of crocs, white faced monkeys, or the many bird and snake species. Or take a turn west to head out to the open ocean to paddle around the many islands within view of the coast.

Tonight, get with the group and head out for a night on the town. With Quepos attracting visitors year-round because of the amazing food, welcoming locals, dream weather and array of daytime activities, locals have taken the opportunity to cater to the night owl. Visit one of the electric nightclubs or local watering holes for a couple rounds of Guaro, a sweet liquor popular in the region made out of sugar cane with slightly less alcohol content than vodka. Take a stab at some salsa at one of the many bars on every street in downtown before finding your way back to the hotel for a good nights’ sleep.

May 31st, Day 7: Today is yours to enjoy this bustling beach town. Sign up for whatever optional excursion you couldn’t hit yesterday, or head out on a guided tour of Manual Antonio National Park. Here you can see multiple soft sand beaches, tidal pools teaming with smaller ocean life or a small biodiverse forest with monkeys, iguanas, armadillos, sloths and tons of song birds.

June 1st, Day 8: You have one last morning to enjoy the beach before we head back inland on our private air-conditioned coach with free wifi to San Jose. Arrive early evening and check into the hotel for your last night in Costa Rica. Grab your travel partners and enjoy one last hoorah in the beautiful city of San Jose.
