Join Professionals in the City this fall to venture out and explore peaceful Scotland. There is not a better way to break up the increasing cold of the oncoming winter than by getting out of town and heading across the Atlantic to lush, magical Scotland.

The tour starts in Scotland’s capital and home to the crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, Edinburgh. After exploring this medieval city while being watched over by the looming and immaculate Edinburgh castle, you will venture north to Inverness. The destination for those that want to experience the Scottish Highlands, Inverness lies on the River Ness and has one of the most amazing indoor Victorian markets in Europe. Once you have soaked in all you can in Inverness, you travel back down south to Glasgow. In this cultural hub of Scotland, you will cruise throughout the city on a city tour while visiting some amazing landmarks and experiencing genuine locals and awe-inspiring architecture.

This trip will take you through some of Scotland’s most desired destinations and let you experience some of the magnificent sights this gorgeous country has to offer. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy this magical and fulfilling trip to the land of the Loch Ness.

Pre Trip Extension
September 11th: If you decided to purchase the pre tour extension for this trip, arrive in Glasgow at any time. Get settled and head out to explore at your own pace. Glasgow is a city full of surprises and excitement. Dive into the live music scene, grab some AMAZING dinner at one of the many renowned nearby restaurants or settle into a local nearby pub to mingle with locals while engaging in some Scottish debauchery.

Pre Trip Extension
September 12th: Today wake up to the sweet Scottish sun while you get ready for an exciting day out from Glasgow to tour the Highland Lochs & Castles. Venture into the heart of the scenic Western Highlands and take in the superb ruins of Kilchurn Castle, stunningly situated at the head of Loch Awe and the historic village of Inveraray and home to the Duke of Argyll. In the afternoon you’ll have the chance to explore Oban and the Autumn landscapes of Glencoe and Rannoch Moor.

September 13th, Day 1: For those of you on the pre trip extension, enjoy your morning in Glasgow before hopping on your transfer to Edinburgh to join the rest of the group. For those joining the tour today, fly into Edinburgh anytime this morning. Hop on your transfer and drop your stuff off at the hotel before venturing out and getting your first taste of Scotland in it’s capital city. You are on your own to check out the narrow wynds and rolling streets from the Royal Mile to Old Town. Grab an authentic scotch at a local pub or find a city tour to keep you occupied before first meeting with the rest of your travel partners. Get to know those you will be traveling with over afternoon tea. Buddy up to explore Edinburgh at night.

September 14th, Day 2:
Enjoy your traditional Scotish breakfast before grouping up and heading out to explore the adventure of your choice. Today you get your choice of tours, none of which will disappoint!

Rosslyn Chapel
Check out the 15th Century Rosslyn Chapel. Popular because of the Da Vinci Code, the Rosslyn Chapel gives you the chance to form your own theory behind the The Holy Grail. Along the way we stop at the world famous Scott's View, with views of the rolling green hills of the Tweed Valley and the Eildon Hills. Before arriving at Rosslyn Chapel we stop in Melrose for lunch and explore the Border Abbey of Melrose, burial place of Robert the Bruce. Then a stop at the graveyard of Temple, named after the Templars. After the Rosslyn Chapel it is back Edinburgh.

Stirling Castle
This day trip will bring you face to face with a historically and architecturally astonishing castle atop a possibly more impressive geological formation. Tour some of the ins and outs and immerse yourself in Rob Roy country, visit The Trossachs, Aberfoyle, take a short hike on the Inversnaid nature trail walk, and get a photo opportunities at Loch Lomond and Lake of Menteith before heading back to Edinburgh for the evening.

West Highland Lochs and Castles
This tour gives you the chance to view ruined castles, tales of old clan rivalries, west coast lochs, baronial mansions and brilliant mountain scenery in the heart of the lush Western Highlands. Your day is highlighted by the superb ruins of Kilchurn Castle, stunningly situated at the head of Loch Awe, the historic 18th century town of Inveraray, home to the Duke of Argyll and Doune Castle, used as a film location for multiple films and tv.

St. Andrews
This tour takes you into South Queensferry into the medieval kingdom of Fife. We will travel the gorgeous coastal route past fishing villages in the East Neuk of Fife, including a stop in Crail. Take the chance to enjoy the historic city of St. Andrews by way of the castle, the University, and visit the Cathedral. Take some time to gather souvenirs or take a beach stroll next to the Old Course, the home of golf. On our way back, we travel through the heart of Fife and stop in the small village of Falkland at the foot of the Lomond Hills, home to James V's historic Renaissance Palace.

September 15th, Day 3:
Enjoy breakfast before seizing the day. Today is yours to explore the Capital of Edinburgh on your own. Stroll the city streets and eat the local fare while grabbing a scotch and a bag full of souvenirs on Princes Street. You can also check out the Camera Obscura’s plethora of illusions, hike to Arthur’s Seat to see structures that are thought to be pieces of Camelot, the legendary castle of King Arthur, or, check out the Museum of Childhood to view toys as old as the 18th Century. Spend the evening touring the tons of pubs and restaurants throughout the heart of Edinburgh or nestle down and relax nearby the hotel.

September 16th, Day 4:
After breakfast pack up and head out. Today we embark for Inverness. We take the charming train ride through the countryside to the Scotish Highlands. Upon arrival, get settled in your hotel before stretching your legs on a stroll along the River Ness. Then, head out to experience Inverness’ nightlife and friendly locals however you choose.

September 17th, Day 5:
Enjoy your traditional Scotish breakfast this morning and meet with your fellow travelers to see which optional tour you would like to take today. You have two choices for today:

Black Isle, Loch Ness, and Moray Firth:
Drive by the Black Isles, hope to see dolphins jumping near Moray Firth and search for the Loch Ness Monster after a tasty tour of a Malt Whisky Distillery. This day tour will give you a true taste of the Highlands.

Isle of Skye:
You’ll drive along the shores of Loch Ness, past the Five Sisters Mountain Range, including a stop at the fairytale-looking Eilean Donan Castle for a great history lesson and even better views of the nearby river and rolling hills.

After you arrive back from your chosen tour, the night is yours to head out and experience all that Inverness has to offer for nighttime activities.

September 18th, Day 6:
Enjoy breakfast before loading up your stuff once again to go explore yet another part of Scotland, Glasgow. We will stop along the way to stretch our legs at the historic Blair Atholl Castle in Pitlochry. Here we will see what a modern day castle of Scotland is like and see one of the most stunning and lush walled gardens in this part of the world.

Upon arrival in Glasgow we will check into the hotel and get settled before you are free to venture out on your own into the vast and entertaining city of Glasgow. Said to be one of the best and most entertaining places to grab a pint in Scotland.

September 19th, Day 7:
Wake up to breakfast and a bustling city out your doors. Today we head out to check out Glasgow on our city tour. Get the chance to see the Glasgow Cathedral which is said to be the oldest building in Scotland, George Square, where you are surrounded by some truly astonishing architecture, and Kelvin Park. This 85 are park is riddled with wildlife and has some clear and striking views of the surrounding river.

Tonight is your last in Scotland. Get out, grab some whiskey and celebrate the amazing experience that Scotland has been. Finish your souvenir shopping, get in those last pictures and exchange info with all of your travel mates. The night is yours!

September 20th, Day 8:
Wake to your traditional Scottish breakfast and soak in the air in this lush country one more time before packing up to head home. Today is departure day for some and although you may not want to leave, the tour ends here. Unless, of course, you have purchased the post trip extension.

For those of you who have purchased the post trip extension, enjoy breakfast before heading to the train station and jumping on our quick ride to Stirling. Upon arrival, get acquainted with the cobble stoned streets that surround the city’s castle. Take the evening to enjoy one or more of the many amazing nearby restaurants and pubs that dot Stirling.

Post Trip Extension
September 21st: Enjoy breakfast and then head out on your tour of the Stirling Castle. Take in the amazing architecture and rich history of this popular attraction. After spending most of your afternoon exploring, find a drinking buddy and sample some of the fine scotch that flows through this exciting city.

Post Trip Extension
September 22nd:Take a little time in Stirling before hopping on your transfer to Edinburgh. Enjoy your last day in Scotland with some last minute shopping and scotch tasting. Explore Old Town, traverse the hilly capital and reflect on the amazing time you had while in Scotland.

September 23rd: Today is departure day. Enjoy your last few hours in Scotland before boarding your flight home.

Trip Information

Extensions: If you would like to purchase the pre or post trip extensions, please indicate this in the “comments” section while placing your deposit. The pre trip extension is an additional $400 for double occupancy. The post trip extension is an additional $550. Please note that the extensions are not sold separately and must be purchased in addition to the 8 day tour.

Roommates: If you would like us to pair you with a roommate, please indicate in your response to your trip registration email. We do our best to pair roommates, although there is no guarantee. If we are unable to pair you, you would need to upgrade to a single supplement.

Single Supplement: A single supplement is available for an additional fee of $665. If you would like to sign up for a single supplement, please indicate this in response to your registration email. The single supplement for the pre and trip is an additional $199. The single supplement for the post trip extension is $289. Please note that single supplements cannot be purchased separately.

Payment Deadlines: After you make your initial $700 deposit, an additional payment of $1000 will be due May 15th, 2020. The final payment of the remaining balance is due on July 15th, 2020.

Cancellations: Cancellations prior to May 15th, 2020 will be subject to a $700 cancellation charge. Cancellations made on or after May 15th, 2020 and before July 15th, 2020 will be charged a $1700 cancellation fee. There will be no refund issued in case of a cancellation on or after July 15th, 2020.

Passport Information:A valid passport will be required of all passengers (please verify that your passport will be valid six months beyond your return date to the United States). Please complete your Trip Information Form (will be e-mailed to you after registration) immediately upon receipt and return to Professionals in the City for verification.

Insurance Information: Professionals in the City strongly recommends that you purchase travel insurance to cover many personal emergency situations that might arise. We recommend that you purchase travel insurance from Travelex Insurance Services, a reputable travel insurance company with extensive 24-hour emergency assistance services.
